LIGHTHOUSE
The lighthouse is a reminder of our stability in Christ. The text reads "God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. - Psalm 46:5"
Story behind the Lighthouse image:
The lighthouse image was inspired while reading about early lighthouse keepers. Before automation, it was incredible how tough life was for some lighthouse keepers and yet their labor saved many.
The Bell Rock lighthouse in Scotland is the world's oldest sea-washed lighthouse and was a hard feat to construct. But because of the high integrity of the masonry construction, it has not been replaced or adapted in 200 years even taking the beating of the sea. Before the lighthouse, many lives were lost from ships crashing against the rock. The construction would have its own stories of sadness but when the lighthouse was complete, it stood for a lot more than many could know even then. Even today, it remains. So it seemed the appropriate one to draw for Psalm 46:5. Though storms rage, God is the refuge and strength in the midst, establishing the beacon, the sure hope in the night and at the break of day. Faithful, unmoving.
