BEAR

The bear image references the story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17. 

David knew God was the One who saves. His confidence was in the Lord, not in his own strength. Whatever lay ahead, David knew the God who had been faithful in the past would carry him through this situation. David was overlooked by everyone but he didn't let it be an excuse. He didn't run. He courageously engaged where no one would, knowing God is God. God used David to save His people and increase their faith. He didn't shrink back.

"And David said, 'The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.'“ - 1 Samuel 17:37a
